The Aeration & oxygenation category brings together air pumps, diffusers, air stones, tubing, check valves and the accessories needed to set up an aeration system. This equipment can be particularly useful in heavily populated aquariums, during hot weather, during certain treatments or when surface movement is insufficient.

The bubbles produced by the diffuser create a water movement that mainly improves gas exchange at the surface. The output of the air pump must therefore be matched to the volume of the aquarium, the number of diffusers used and the depth of the tank.
